Ruby Merrell July 8, 1913-May 2, 2007

My dad called and told me that my 93-year-old grandmother (on my mother's side of the family) passed away tonight. Nana was a special woman. Even as tears flow from my eyes, there is much rejoicing in heaven as she sees Jesus.
The memory that comes to mind tonight is every summer I spent a week at her house in the southeastern Oklahoma town of Durant. She was a retired nurse and she often took me for my shots at the Bryan County Health Department. One time, I wanted to play catch and test my throwing arm after a booster shot. We played catch in the backyard next to her beautiful vegetable garden. There's so much more to what she means to my family, but that simple game of catch I will always remember.
I love you, Nana.
