Chapman Says Faith Was Tested
Christian performer Steven Curtis Chapman admits he and his family had a crisis of faith following death of their five-year-old daughter Maria Sue. During an appearance on ABC's "Good Morning America" yesterday, Chapman said the family voiced many questions to do with their faith in God after the accident, but in the end their faith is what has helped get them through the last couple of months. The singer was on the show with his wife Mary Beth, and their three oldest children, making their first public appearance since Maria was accidentally killed by her brother. On May 21st, Will Franklin ran over his sister while driving an SUV down the driveway of the family's home south of Nashville. Maria was one of the Chapmans' three adopted daughters from China. Steven said, quote, "That's what faith is. It's living with the questions. That doesn't mean you have the answers. That's exactly what faith is." The family is establishing a home for special needs children waiting to be adopted in China. Maria had a heart defect when the Chapmans' adopted her. Chapman addressed the issue again in an appearance on CNN's "Larry King Live" Thursday night.
